Comic Jam in Progress

GENTLEMEN... BEHOLD!!

It's comic jam time! Sign up is now closed! Those of you who have signed up, you have all been sent, or are being sent emails with further instructions to play, but here are a few notes you can always reference here. Those of you who didn't bother, wait until the NEXT game! Mwahahahahaha!

There are 6 participants. The mailing order is as follows:

Hekateros will send to Teh Mutt,
Teh Mutt will send to Katie,
Katie will send to KimaShin,
KimaShin will send to Sean,
Sean will send to Nikki,
Nikki will send to Hekateros.

Each comic will have 6 panels. The first panel should be the setting. When you get a comic with 2 or 3 panels, it will be around the climax. When you receive a comic with 5 panels, you will be in charge of drawing the final panel, a.k.a. the ending. After you draw the 6th panel of a comic, you need to send that comic to my email so I can post it on the blog for everyone to see.

Save only as a .jpg, and only save/send one file.

For everyone at home that's not playing along. Come back in a week, we'll have the results of the game posted!

edit: Questions will also be answered in the comments section if you'd rather ask there. I'll also post questions and answers as I get them in the comments section.

  1. Question: Can we do more than one panel if we choose?

Answer: Absolutely not. You can only do one panel.

Question: What are the dimensions for the panels?

Answer: Draw what you think works best based on the panels before yours. The only real size restraints are on people's email attachments.

Question: How big should I make the comic?

Answer: Small enough to send in an email, but big enough to have 6 panels. I'm recommending that the comic size is a 560X720 pixel file (it's like 7.6 inches by 10 inches or something like that) at some decent level dpi I guess. As long as it can be sent to everyone's email without getting an attachment size error, then it's fine.

  2. Question: Should the panel be 560X720?

Answer: The panel should be significantly smaller than that. 560X720 are the suggested dimensions of the comic page. Sorry if this was unclear before.

Question: Does the file name matter?

Answer: File name does not matter. Infact, you don't even have to keep the same file name throughout the jam.

Question: I only have time to draw one panel a day, but I received 2 (or more), do I still have to draw all of these within the 24 hour time limit?

Answer: This is the ONLY exception to the 24 hour rule. You only have to draw one panel a day. Just make sure you are drawing in the comic that has the LEAST amount of panels.

Question: I have a comic that has already has a layout (space marked for all of the other panels), but I'd rather draw a different sized panel, what should I do?

Answer: Do NOT mess with any of the previous artwork. You can change the layout they set up if you feel like it limits you. (Please, don't make layouts.) Also, if you feel like there isn't enough room for you to draw (i.e., the comic isn't wide or long enough) you can change the file's dimensions. Please email me immediately if there are further questions regarding something like this.
